Willemstad’s entire downtown area has been named a UNESCO world heritage site. This gem color buildings create the most surprising cityscapes in the Caribbean. A short walk across the Queen Emma floating bridge takes you to Otrobanda meaning “the other side” where you will feel like you’ve stepped back in time to a 17th century Dutch provincial town.

The entire island’s colorful history is well documented with many museums, attractions and monuments. The Kura Hulanda museum details Curacao and Dutch critical role in the slave trade, with rare artifacts and relics.

The Maritime Museum documents the islands history as both as strategic military location and a vital commercial center.  Curacao Island is also home to the Mikve Israel-Emanuel synagogue which is the oldest in the western hemisphere.

Land House Zeelandia

In the country site there are close to 100 land houses that adopt the landscape curacao island 10and most of them are lovely restored. As in Willemstad, this beautiful structure lives on today as offices, shops, gallery, museums and residences.

There is really no place quite like Curacao my friend. The spirit of the island can also be seen at Mount Christoffel. This is an opportunity to experience nature while having fun outdoors. Nearby Christoffel Park we have Shete Boka National Park.

The Park is home to Boka Tabla which has ocean carved caves, spectacular sprays of sea water and a natural bridge. Another touristic attraction on the island is the Land House Chobolobo where Curacao’s famous blue liqueur is distilled.

You might consider visiting the Curacao Ostrich Farm which is one of the largest in the western hemisphere. And close by you'll find… the Aloe Vera Plantation.

BUT if you prefer a more sporting experience take a swing at one of Curacao Golfing courses with fantastic settings by the sea. curacao island 11

For families and nature enthusiast Sea Aquarium is a must. Touch tanks allow you to hand feed sea turtles, sting rays and even sharks (they don’t bite though - thank God).

For those who want a more hands one experience make sure to visit the Dolphin Academy where you can learn and interact with dolphins (BTW they are the most intelligent and adorable creatures ever). This isn’t exiting enough?

Then take a dive 1000 Ft below the surface with the substation to see what few people have seen before. Let me tell you. This experience is adrenaline-filled.
